DynaVox EyeMax
On December 18th Grant went in for an AAC evaluation. The goal was to show that he needed a device to help him communicate. The evaluation far exceeded my expectations. The team that evaluated him were amazing and we are in process of getting him a DynaVox EyeMax (in bright green of course)!
The Eval
I loved the evaluation we did. I got to play with toys and got to show everyone how smart I was. There was a bunny that hopped from box to box as more and more boxes appeared on the screen. I got up to 45 boxes (the highest it would go) and was still chasing the bunny. I kept telling the girls I wanted to play with the police car. They thought it was just that easy to see so they changed it up on me and put it in a few different spots. Well it didn't matter where it was I still wanted to play with it so I did! I also told them I wanted a drink of apple juice. I think I even surprised my mom. I could see the joy, excitement and pride in her eyes! It was so much fun and I can't wait to get my own device!
The Process
Like I have said they are going to be getting me a DynaVox EyeMax. So where are the wonderful girls in the process? Well they submitted it to insurance and the claim was denied. I heard my mom crying telling my dad that she will get this device no matter what it takes. I'm kind of sad that I won't be getting it right away but I know my mom will do the best she can to get it as quickly as possible!
Why I Need Your Help
So why am I asking you for help? Well we already know that insurance won't pay for the device. We aren't even sure yet if they will pay for any of it! For the device and everything that comes with it the cost is just under $18,000!!! Can you believe that? So I'm asking for your kindness in helping change my life and make it easier to communicate with my mom, dad, brother and everyone else I love!
